Ijevan
Ijevan is the kind of place that's hard to describe without sounding like you're overselling it. Forest on every side, a river through town, air that reminds you what air is supposed to feel like. People who choose a social package in Ijevan aren't usually chasing sights or activities. They come to breathe. To slow down.
It's about two hours from Yerevan. The drive itself is part of it — after the Dilijan tunnel, the landscape shifts completely. Denser, greener, heavier somehow. By the time you reach Ijevan, you already feel the difference.
Social package deals in Ijevan typically include accommodation and meals. Often a yard, a covered outdoor area, sometimes a small pool. The hotels are modest and family-run. Food is homemade — local vegetables, fruit, often wine from nearby vineyards. The Tavush region has been growing grapes for a long time, and it shows up at the table.
Good for families. Kids can run freely, fish in the river, spend the whole day outside without anyone worrying. For adults — sit, look at things, do very little on purpose. Ijevan has a way of making that feel natural rather than lazy.
Best time to visit is summer or autumn. In autumn the Tavush forests change colour in a way that's genuinely hard to photograph properly. You have to be there.
When booking a social package in Ijevan, look at the smaller guesthouses rather than larger hotels. Everything tends to be more genuine — more local food, more actual hospitality, less of a gap between what's advertised and what you get.
