On this day we will go to the origins of Christianity - to the monastery of Khor Virap, which stores the history of the spread of Christianity in Armenia: according to legend, Gregory the Illuminator languished here in a deep pit, teeming with snakes for 14 years. The name of the monastery is translated: "deep pit."

This monastery was built on the site of the ancient capital of Armenia, Artashat, the oldest building was erected in 642 AD, this is the chapel of St. Gregory. The complex also includes the Church of the Holy Mother of God, which was built later. A magnificent view opens from the walls of Khor Virap fortress - Mount Ararat, a symbol of the country of Nairi, proudly pours out.

And we will reach the monastery by the cablecar “Wings of Tatev” the longest cable car in Armenia (5.7 km), was built in 2012.
